ARCHITECTURE / SYSTEMS

Technology behind the flight deck.

Flight controls and envelope

Fly-by-wire translates sidestick inputs into control surface actions. Envelope protections form part of the Airbus architecture; their behavior depends on the available control law.

Computers and configuration

ELAC stands for Elevator and Aileron Computer; SEC for Spoiler and Elevator Computer. Airbus highlights compatibility between software standards and aircraft configuration, including the load alleviation function associated with Sharklets.

Flight deck commonality

The A320 family’s flight deck philosophy supports transitions between the A318, A319, A320 and A321. Automation management and monitoring flight indications are central topics when studying this environment.

Neo engine options

The A320neo family offers engine alternatives. CFM’s option is the LEAP-1A, distinct from the LEAP-1B used on the 737 MAX. Engine selection is part of the technical configuration to be defined for simulation.
